The local chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is back with another Time Travel Craft at the downtown Klamath County Library!
Join us Thursday, Jan. 29th at 5:30 pm to sew up a simple but elegant hooded cowl, based on the "Skjoldehamn Costume." Popular with reenactors of Viking Age and Iron Age Europe, the Skjoldehamn Costume is an ensemble discovered on an island off the northern coast of Norway, inside the Arctic Circle. (For more about the costume, including its probable links to the Indigenous Sámi people of northern Europe, check out this writeup from Norway's Museum Nord.)
The hood is constructed from just a square and a rectangle of fabric, making it a great option for beginners getting into historical reenactment (or anyone in need of a warm hood)!
Teen and adult fans of historical costume are welcome to participate. Pre-registration is optional, to help organizers estimate how much material to bring; reserve your spot here: forms.gle/dVsUweHk9k1ef3zM7.
