Suicide Prevention Training

United States

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Learn how you can help your family, neighbors and friends from a mental health crisis at a training hosted by the Klamath County Library. This training will take place twice – Wednesday, September 27th at 3 pm and Thursday, September 28th at 6 pm – so you can attend whichever one best fits your schedule.

The training will be given by Brion Pinkerton, community engagement and partnership coordinator for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. (While suicide is a significant issue within the veteran community and their families, you don’t have to have served or know anyone who served in the military to participate. Suicide prevention training benefits everyone!)

Pinkerton will show you how to notice if someone is in need of help, how to support good mental health in your community, and what to do if you find yourself with someone experiencing a dangerous crisis. No registration is necessary.

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please call the 24-hour national Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
