Take a hard look at grade-school bullying in the Belgian drama Playground, screening on June 13th at 5:30 pm at the downtown Klamath County Library.
Playground focuses on a pair of siblings – shy seven-year-old Nora and her older brother Abel. When Nora witnesses Abel being ruthlessly bullied by other kids, she rushes in to protect him. Abel forbids her from speaking to their father about the mistreatment – despite the bullying, he believes he can fit in if he silently bears his torment. Playground is a tight view of the cruelty and drama of a child’s developing social life as the siblings attempt to navigate their school’s cliques in order to survive…
Playground is unrated, in French with subtitles, and runs for 1 hour, 12 minutes.
