Join us at the downtown Klamath County Library for a screening of the charming Bhutanese film Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom on Tuesday, November 14th at 5:30pm!
Aspiring singer Ugyen has spent the last several years of his mandatory government service as a teacher just going through the motions. He wants to leave his home nation of Bhutan – a tiny, mountainous nation tucked in the Himalayas between India and China – and emigrate to Australia, where he’ll chase his dreams of stardom. But his latest teaching assignment is a far cry from big-city life: the remote village of Lunana, populated by a few hundred yak herders and their children. Ugyen wants to quit, but the sincere excitement of the eager-to-learn students starts to grow on him…
Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom is unrated, in Dzonkha and English with subtitles, and runs for 1 hour, 50 minutes.
