Widower Konrad Hausnick seems annoyed at the whole world, save for his pet fish. But his fortress of solitude is broken into one day by a young girl – his 12-year-old neighbor Thurba. Thurba’s family is living in Germany without documentation and she hid in Konrad’s apartment fleeing a confrontation with immigration authorities. Konrad reluctantly gives her shelter, and the two strike up a most unlikely friendship…
