A couple’s lives takes a turn for the absurd in the Israeli comedy Golden Voices, screening at the downtown Klamath County Library on Tuesday, April 12th at 5:30 pm.
For decades, Victor and Raya Frenkel were the voices of the Soviet film industry – they dubbed over the dialog in every movie that made it past the Iron Curtain from Western filmmakers. When the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990s, the pair decided to move to Israel, like thousands of other Soviet Jews. But Israel has no need for Russian-speaking voice actors, and the Frenkels’ attempts to use their talents cause a series of bizarre events that puts an awkward, charming, and downright absurd spin on this new chapter in their lives…
Golden Voices is unrated, in Russian and Hebrew with English subtitles, and runs for 1 hour, 28 minutes.
