Foreign Film Night: Ascension

United States

Investigate the pursuit of “The Chinese Dream” with the 2021 documentary Ascension, screening at the downtown Klamath County Library on Tuesday, October 11th at 5:30 pm.

Shot at 51 locations throughout China, Ascension follows working-class and aspiring-middle-class Chinese people  as they pursue the Chinese equivalent of “The American Dream.” Frequently absurd, Ascension observes the hustle, innovation and pressure behind the ubiquitous “Made in China” label on products throughout the world, and highlights the highly stratified class layers of Chinese society.

Ascension is unrated, in Mandarin with subtitles, and runs for 1 hour, 37 minutes.
