Our The Aging Journey seminar series continues!

Staff from Klamath Basin Behavioral Health (KBBH) are giving presentations on a variety of topics of interest to older folks Thursdays at 10 am at the downtown Klamath County Library.

Each presentation can be attended as a stand-alone; stop by for the topics that interest you!

Join us for:

  • Thursday, Jan. 8th: Community Resources. You may not be aware of all the organizations in the area who want to help you!
  • Thursday, Jan. 15th: Death Doulas. Just as birth doulas support a family as a new member enters the world, death doulas help you and your family as a loved one heads through the exit.
  • Thursday, Jan. 22nd: Vertigo and Dizziness. Falls impact older folks more than the average person, so it's important to understand the causes of vertigo and what to do if you notice a wave of lightheadedness come over you.
  • Thursday, Jan. 29th: Surviving a Stroke. Surviving a stroke leaves you with unique challenges and needs. Learn how to navigate the "new normal" as a family.
  • Thursday, Feb. 5th: Self-Compassion and Self-Care. Despite what advertising will tell you, "self care" has a lot more to it than buying yourself a little treat every now and again.
  • Thursday, Feb. 12th: Driving As We Age. When is it time to retire from driving? How would giving up a vehicle affect your independence?
  • Thursday, Feb. 19th: Finding Gratitude. Taking time to appreciate the good things in your life can improve the quality of your mental health!
  • Thursday, Feb. 26th: How to Talk to Your Doctor. Your health needs often get more complicated as you get older. Learn how to bring up concerns at the doctor's office, and how to get new professionals you work with up to speed on your medical history.

KBBH Behavioral Health Specialists, Patricia "Patty" Card, and Kelli Bowers will show you how you and your family can prepare for challenges and celebrate triumphs as you age. Card has worked at KBBH for more than 35 years. Bowers has worked in the field of human services and social work since 1984 in Utah and Oregon. Both currently specialize in the mental health needs of older adults.
