United States

to

Pruning tree branches can reduce pests, boost curb appeal and prevent dangerous limb falls, among other benefits – but pruning the wrong way can damage or even kill a tree. Learn best practices to care for your trees on Tuesday, January 23rd at 11 am at the South Suburban Branch Library, 3625 Summers Lane.

The presentation will be preceded by a business meeting of the Northside Garden Club, which will start at 10:30 am, then break for the tree presentation. The public is welcome to attend both the presentation and the garden club meeting.

The presentation will feature three speakers:

  • John Bellon, Parks Community Relations Manager and Urban Forester for the City of Klamath Falls, will share information about the city’s trees and tips on how to care for trees at your home or business. Bellon has served Klamath Falls for 26 years as their certified arborist and landscape designer.
  • Arborist Tom Ford of Shasta View Tree Care will demonstrate how proper trimming can preserve the health, safety, and property value of your trees and how to make sure the people you hire to prune your trees are doing so according to industry standards. Ford has been in arboriculture for over 30 years, and has trained other arborists for nearly 10 years through North American Training Solutions.
  • Brandon Burke, Senior Forester for Pacific Power, will focus on managing trees around powerlines, including how to plant near them and how to manage existing trees that are close to powerlines.
