Contribute to a community art project while helping a Portland State University Ph.D. candidate with their dissertation research!
Join geography scholar Thien-Kim Bui at sessions throughout September at the downtown library to make quilt squares illustrating your water's importance in your life, your feelings about competing needs for water in an ongoing drought, or anything else you want to express about water! We'll be hosting opportunities to contribute on:
- Sunday, Sept. 13th from 1:30pm to 4:30pm
- Monday, Sept. 14th from 11am to 2pm
- Tuesday, Sept. 15th from 5pm to 7:30pm
- Wednesday, Sept. 23rd from 5pm to 7:30pm
- Friday, Sept. 25th from 1:30pm to 4:30pm
- Saturday, Sept. 26th from 11am to 1pm and from 1pm to to 4pm
Pre-registration is appreciated; sign up here!
Participation is completely voluntary - come to as many or as few sessions and stay as long (or as little) as you like! We'll provide everything you need to participate, and you don't need any previous crafting/sewing/quilting experience to contribute.
This event is open to adults 18 years old and up who live in, work in, or are otherwise connected to the Klamath Basin.
Thien-Kim's research focuses on water conflict, governance and collaboration in the US West. They believe that collaborative processes, whether in governance or in the arts, offer the promise of new ways to understand and relate to one another.
