The Aging Journey: Dementia Types & Tailored Care

United States

Our The Aging Journey seminar series continues!

Staff from Klamath Basin Behavioral Health (KBBH) are giving presentations on a variety of topics of interest to older folks Thursdays at 10 am at the downtown Klamath County Library.

Each presentation can be attended as a stand-alone; stop by for the topics that interest you!

Join us for:

  • Thursday, June 4th: Neurodegenerative Diseases. Conditions like Parkinson's, ALS and others cause damage to your nervous system, which affects your brain and muscle control. These conditions have strong ties to age. The older you are, the greater your chances of developing one.
  • Thursday, June 11th: Dementia Types & Tailored Care. Dementia encompasses many more conditions than Alzheimer's disease, and while they have many symptoms in common, they all require different kinds of treatment and long-term care.
  • Thursday, June 18th: Sleep & Circadian Rhythms. Your sleep needs are different at every stage of your life! Learn how to navigate them as an older adult.
  • Thursday, Boundaries, Peace, and Protecting Your Energy. You can't be everything for everyone! Learn how to maintain healthy boundaries with your friends and loved ones to prevent burnout.

KBBH Behavioral Health Specialists, Patricia "Patty" Card, and Kelli Bowers will show you how you and your family can prepare for challenges and celebrate triumphs as you age. Card has worked at KBBH for more than 35 years. Bowers has worked in the field of human services and social work since 1984 in Utah and Oregon. Both currently specialize in the mental health needs of older adults.
